tea's health benefits

This is a weird topic

Ever since Emperor Shen Nong accidentally boiled tea leaves and incorporated it into TCM, people have been making claims about tea's health benefits. Nowadays, we're able to learn a lot about how tea actually effects the body from a Western medicine sense. However, tea is closely tied to long cultural roots in many areas, so it becomes very personal quickly.

Tea's health benefits are also a huge piece of the marketing around tea, which is where things continue to get weird. Very often I find that tea sellers are very practiced at walking the line between fact and fiction.

In the end, there are so many bogus claims to sort through that I have (in the interest of my sanity) decided on a motto for this topic.

My motto on tea for health

I will never recommend drinking tea for direct health benefit.
I will always recommend to drink tea because it's enjoyable, and doing enjoyable things is good for your health.
